Art League of the Chathams
Celebrating Our 25th Anniversary

 Who We Are

The Art League of the Chathams (ALC) is a supportive community of visual artists living in the Chatham area of NJ.  The League's mission is  to nurture the artistic development of its members and to foster an appreciation of their work in the community. More details are on the ABOUT US page and MEMBERS page.

League membership is open to visual artists and art enthusiast who live in Chatham Township, Chatham Borough and near-by towns. Please go to the JOIN US page to read about the benefits of membership and to find the membership form.

The Arts Council of the Morris Area selected the Art League of the Chathams as the recipient of its 2012 Outstanding Arts Organization Award.

Our Main Role is Exhibing Art in Public Spaces

The major role of ALC is to exhibit members’ art work at the Chatham Township Municipal Building (at 58 Meyersville Road) and at the Chatham Borough Municipal Building (at 54 Fairmount Ave). Our mission is to have art on display at all times in these public spaces to provide beauty and visual excitement to the people who work in the buildings and to the public who does business in these spaces.  ALC members also have opportunities to display their work at other venues in the area.

  • Exhibits provide public exposure to our member artists in both group and solo shows.
  • Many of the exhibits are preceded by an opening reception for which the ALC provides complimentary refreshments. Everyone is invited to join us.
  • Please see the CURRENT EVENTS  and FUTURE EVENTS pages for the schedule of exhibits.
  • Mail in the form on the PROSPECTUS page to apply for entry to an exhibit.

What We Do In Our Community

The ALC has been sponsoring art workshops in community venues. All workshops are open to the public and many of them are free. Please see the EVENTS page for a schedule of events.

The ALC has been encouraging young artists in the community by offering a scholarship to a Chatham High School student who either plans to pursue a career in art or has an intense interest in art. The ALC periodically sponsors a special art exhibit of Chatham High School student work, and some students have been included in our group shows.
